Job Title: Deputy Principal

Makerere University seeks to fill the key positions of Principal and Deputy Principal in Colleges. The Colleges of Makerere University are semi-autonomous academic units which contain Schools, Academic, Institutes and Departments which carry out both General and Professional Training as well as carrying out Research in various disciplines.

This advertisement is for the position of Principal and Deputy Principal in the following 8 Colleges which will fall vacant in January 2013:

(i) College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES)

(ii) College of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Resources and Biosecurity (COVAB)

(iii) College of Natural Sciences (CONAS)

(iv) College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT)

(v) College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS)

(vi) College of Computing & Information Sciences (COCIS)

(vii) College of Education & External Studies (COEES)

(viii) College of Business and Management Sciences (COBAMS)




Job Title : DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

The position is a senior post in the University and the Deputy Principal shall hold office for a term of four years that may be renewed once.

Eligibility:

The person eligible for appointment should possess the following attributes:

(i) Hold PhD or other academic Doctorate or Masters in Clinical discipline;

(ii) Be at least of the rank of Senior Lecturer or its equivalent at the time of application;

(iii) Four (4) years Managerial ability in Higher Education or Research Institution with at least track record of having served as Head of academic Department or Research Project Manager;

(iv) Teaching experience of at least four (4) years in any of the disciplines being offered in the College he/she intends to lead;

(v) Be at least 40 years old and not beyond 61 years at the time of applying;

(vi) Be a citizen of Uganda.

Job Description:

The Deputy Principal Deputises for the Principal of the College and performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal in conformity with the laid down procedures of Makerere University.
