Job Title: Project Coordinator


The Johns Hopkins University/Center for Communication, programs (CCP) is a pioneer in the field of strategic, research based communication for behavior change and health promotion that has helped transform the theory and practice of public health. In Uganda, CCPs goal is to strengthen public health through strategic communication programs.

Position Title: Project Coordinator Reports to: Regional Representative Location: Kampala, Uganda.

Job Summary:

The Project Coordinator will provide technical assistance to the Rakai Health Sciences Project (RHSP) to design, implement and monitor the “Stylish Man” communication campaign aimed at motivating men in Rakai to take a more active role in HIV prevention and treatment. The Project Coordinator will support the Rakai Health Sciences Programme to design, and manage a 9-month campaign in Rakai District. Specifically, the Project Coordinator will:

    Work with the RHSP, to refine the campaign strategy for the “Stylish Man” communication campaign
    Direct implementation of “Stylish Man” work plan and strategy
    Ensure the project stays within budget; negotiate contracts and engage consultants as necessary
    Oversee the day to day activities, including but not limited to the following:

    Provide technical input on creative materials, activity plans and training materials, ensuring that they are accurate, attractive, and consistent with the communication strategy.
    Design and coordinate pretesting of creative materials and activities and incorporation of findings into finalized materials.
    Design training materials for community resource persons.
    Monitor and supervise radio and community based activities conducted under the “Stylish Man” campaign.

    Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to design a monitoring system, analyze monitoring data, and use that analysis to improve the campaign.
    Provide weekly reports to RHSP team on the ongoing communication campaign
    Work with RHSP research team to design the campaign impact evaluation.
    Any other duties related to the “Stylish Man” communication f campaign.
    The position will be based in Kampala but will require frequent travel to Rakai.

Requirement:

    Minimum of a masters degree in mass communication, public health, advocacy or public relations or in a related field.
    Minimum 5 years working experience in the field of health communication.
    Fluent in English and Luganda.
