Job Title: PRINCIPAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

 UGANDA COFFEE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (UCDA), Uganda

The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) was established by statutory mandate in 1991 following the liberalization of the coffee industry. The Statute mandates UCDA to: “oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimise foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to farmers”. In order to fulfill its mandate, UCDA wishes to recruit an organised, efficient, and highly driven individual to fill the position of;

PRINCIPAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

DEPARTMENT: Strategy and Business Development

REPORTING TO: Strategy and Business Development Manager

JOB PURPOSE: To develop and implement business strategies that are responsive to UCDA’s stakeholder needs, and produce required papers, reports and documents in line with the departmental mandate.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

    Develop strategy initiatives for the coffee sub- sector, and make appropriate recommendations to Management for the benefit of stakeholders.
    Study and review relevant legislation and regulations and advise Management on compliance and adoption.
    Provide technical input in the preparation of presentations and policy documents, review reports and documents, and prepare briefs for the attention of Management.
    Undertake and manage research, and ad hoc special projects under the guidance of the Strategy and Business Development Manager and the Management team.
    Provide support towards the preparation of the departmental budget and work plan, and coordinate the development of annual budgets and work plans in liaison with other departments.
    Monitor and implement the M&E framework and make recommendations for setting up systems designed to improve service delivery.
    Monitor the progress of implementation of the UCDA Vote performance indicators, and coordinate the submission of quarterly progress reports and annual performance reports to different stakeholders – OPM, MoFPED, MAAIF and UCDA Management.
    Carry out such other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirement:

    Honors degree in Statistics, Economics, Planning , Business Administration, Social Sciences, Agricultural Economics or in any other related field.
    Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Planning, Social Sciences, and Agricultural Economics or in any other related field.
    Post graduate qualification in Project planning or monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage.

Experience

    A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in planning, monitoring, strategy development.

Personal Competences

    Should be a self-starter, dynamic and result oriented individual with highly developed analytical and report writing skills.
    Must have the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
    Should have good knowledge of computer management and applications.
    Should be a result and team oriented individual with good presentation; communication and networking skills.
