The UGANDA TRYPANOSOMIASIS CONTROL COUNCIL (UTCC), an agency of Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries, was established by an Act of Parliament in 1992 as a semi-autonomous body charged with the “responsibility of controlling Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis (T&T) in Uganda with a view of enhancing human health and agricultural production so as to contribute towards the improvement of the standard of living of Ugandans.

In order to implement the objectives of the Council, the Chairman on behalf of UTCC invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following posts available at its secretariat- Coordinating Office for the Control of Trypanosomiasis in Uganda (COCTU):

POST: DEPUTY DIRECTOR

Job description:

He or she shall be responsible for the following:

    Deputizing the Director of COCTU.
    Preparing timely briefs, quarterly and annual activity workplans / reports and other information relating to the Secretariat for submission to Council and other relevant authorities
    Managing and safe guarding all Council property.
    Planning and organizing seminars, conferences, workshops and staff meetings aimed at promoting the effective implementation of the National Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis programme.
    Carrying out such other duties within the objectives and functions of the Council as the Director may direct from time to time.

Requirement:

    Applicants must be Ugandans with a basic degree from a recognised University in any of the fields of: Veterinary Medicine, Human Medicine and Applied Medical/Veterinary Entomology or Parasitology plus a post graduate degree at level of a Master of Science in any of the above relevant fields.
    Applicants' should have a minimum of working experience of 6 years at a managerial level in any of the fields above dealing with tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Control and possess a demonstrated capacity in organization, co-ordination and financial management.

Terms for all positions:

    Remuneration is attractive depending on qualifications and experience.
    Duty station is Kampala
