Job Title: Radiation Protection Officer
Vacancies: 03
Reporting to: Secretary, AEC
Age: 25-35 years

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Verify license requirements and prepare authorizations.
• Maintain Regulatory Authority Information System (RAIS).
• Carry out licensing and registration of radiation generators and radiation sources in accordance with safety regulations.
• Issue import permits in accordance with the legislation.
• Prepare quarterly updates on source registration and report on progress.
• Carryout periodic assessment of the performance of radiation generators and report accordingly.
• Ensure that radiation generators and associated sources are calibrated.
• Undertake research in radiation safety and nuclear technology applications.
• Prepare work plans and train radiation protection staff.
• Conduct incident and accident inquiries relating to radiation.
• Maintain contact with Radiation Safety Officer and authorized person.
• Participate and contribute in departmental budgetary planning.
• Participate in outreach activities.
• Conduct a radiological hazard assessment for the country.
• Prepare response plans for different categories of radiological disasters.
• Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience:
• Honours Bachelors degree in either Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering,Physics,Chemistry or Radiation Technology from a recognized University/Institution.
• At least 3 years relevant experience in related field.
• MSc in related field will be an added advantage. ;

Terms of Service:
An attractive remuneration will be offered to a successful candidate on 3 years contract renewable on satisfactory performance.
