SIGN LANGUAGE JOBS IN UGANDA

Job Title: SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER
Reports to: Administrative Assistant
Purpose: The purpose of this position is to provide sign language interpretation services to deaf person’s inline with agreed standards and policies of NUDIPU.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate communication between deaf people with the rest of the stakeholders and members.
2. Interpret from sign language to spoken language and from spoken

Minimum academic qualification:
Advanced level certificate and above plus fluency in sign interpretation.
A Sign Language Interpretation Certificate, as a minimum recognized institution.

Person specification:
Must understand and observe the Sign Language Interpretation Code of Conduct
2-year experience in the field of sign language interpretation
Good sign language interpreting skills
Have excellent interpersonal, diagnostic, problem solving and conceptual skills
Knowledge on disability issues and experience in working with persons with disabilities
Fluency in English Language

Employment terms for the position:
The successful candidate will work on probation of six months and will be awarded a two year, renewable contract upon satisfactory performance. An attractive package will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with qualification and previous work experience.
