Construction Supervisor Job Vacancy

Position: Project Assistant, Construction Supervisor.


Position Overview:
The Project Assistant, Construction Supervision will be responsible for supervising all construction works of the project to ensure that the construction work allocated follows common and agreed standards and report any deviances of acceptable quality to supervisor. The position holder will work closely; with the existing structures at district, sub-county: and village level as well as Global Water Initiatives partners in implementing the project activities. Position will be based in Lira/Otuke and report the Global Water Initiatives Project Manager

Qualifications, Experience and Abilities required:
The suitable candidate will preferably have qualifications including but not limited to: A Diploma in Civil/ Water Engineering / Hydrology, Public Health/Environmental Health Engineering or an equivalent together with:
• At least four years experience in the Water and Sanitation field and post conflict and humanitarian setting preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in design of water and sanitation facilities and construction management/supervision.
• Proven ability to effectively supervise and manage or site contractors and contractor's staff.
• Demonstrated experience in water quality testing and using the Delagua kit is preferred.
• Good understanding and ability to schedule ; works and to implement schedules with practical construction skills.
• Experience in working in rural areas, including infrastructure and construction.
• Knowledge, skills and experience in participatory I methods for hygiene promotion e.g. PHAST, CHAST
• Creative problem solving.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD use of GPS machine is 3 must.
• Willing to live and work in an insecure rural environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills.
• Fluency in English is a must and knowledge of Luo is an added advantage.
• Group and adult facilitation skills and experience required.
• Experience of ground water abstraction for both deep and shallow wells.
• Familiar with the culture of Northern Uganda and possession of a valid riding permit are added advantages.
