The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking four (4) individuals for the position of Data Management Assistant.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Data Management Assistant has primary responsibility for the design, development and maintenance of public health information management systems and operation of computer systems within a defined project, often geographically defined, within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Entebbe, Uganda. They are responsible for all computer operations from data entry, public health information management systems development, data management and quality assurance to staff training and equipment management within that project. Systems development, basic data entry, and computer support knowledge is required as they support the data, administrative, and clerical systems and hardware for the entire project and liase with senior data management staff and Local Area Network (LAN) administrators at CDC-UVRI headquarters for advanced expertise.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Education required: Completion of secondary school (both 'O' and 'A') level and technical training in computer data management or data quality management from a recognized professional, commercial or educational organization is required.
2. Work experience required: Three years of data entry experience, including forms management and error resolution in data entry, one of which should be in a clinical or public health setting is required.
3. Language required: Level III English (good working knowledge) and ability to read technical manuals in English is required.
4. Knowledge required: Comprehensive knowledge of computer data input equipment, database management systems, processes and procedures; knowledge of computer programs such as EpiInfo 2000, SAS, SPSS, MS Access, Nvivo2, SQL or Ethnograph 5, and thorough knowledge of computers (hardware, various software programs and LAN systems) as well as good knowledge of manipulation of data for reporting and analysis is required.
5. Skills and Abilities required: Skills in managing various programs in MicroSoft Office Suite; ability to type at least 40 words per minute; experience in forms management and error resolution in data entry and ability to prioritize work when working on multiple projects across units is required.

2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.

3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.

4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their appointment.

5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
