Job title: Chief Investment Officer (CIO)
We are looking for a self motivated individual with relevant
experience and the right innovative skills to spearhead the
aggressive growth of the Fund’s investment portfolio. This is a very
senior role at the Fund and the right profiled person, who is result
oriented, is required.
The successful candidate should have significant experience
of managing investments, including asset allocation, identifying
trends and generating measurable returns. This experience must
also have been gained in at least two of the following areas: hedge
fund/equities, real estate, private equity and direct fixed income
investments.
Main purpose of the job
Reporting to Managing Director, the CIO will have overall
responsibility for driving the investment strategy of the Fund and
oversee a team of investment specialists to ensure that members’
funds are prudently invested and earn real returns in line with the
Fund’s investment policy. He/She will be a member of the senior
management executive committee.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Participate in strategic planning for the organization by
providing input into the development of an investment strategy
as well as related business and operational plans.
• Develop an asset allocation matrix and identify risk adjusted
benchmarks for each investment type of real estate, equities
and fixed income.
• Identify and develop coherent investment policies and
guidelines for different types of investments, in accordance with
regulatory requirements.
• Make contact with and conduct preliminary discussions with
prospective investors and assess the potential of business
opportunities.
• Pro-actively identify opportunities, and coordinate the
preparation of feasibility studies and business plans for all
investment types.
• Appraise, analyze and evaluate new areas of investments and
make recommendations to the Board of Directors for approval.
• Take responsibility for all fixed income investment activities
including offering debt advisory to the Board of Directors,
underwriting and placement services, plain vanilla financing,
liability management and structured finance.
• Manage activities in equity and equity linked businesses,
acquisition of, negotiation for and origination of primary and
secondary mandates.
• Identify, appraise and lead implementation of real estate
projects; proactively manage construction and operational
risks associated with real estate projects in order to undertake
projects within approved project costs, timeframes and realise
required rates of returns.
• Lead the implementation of authorised investments and
supervise property development projects in liaison with project
managers and outsourced consultants.
• Monitor, analyze and report on performance of all investments
portfolio.
• Prepare detailed reports to Board and potential investors.
• Coordinate Investment Committee meetings.
• Supervise and develop a professional team in investments,
finance, architecture and engineering.
Job Requirements:
• A good degree and postgraduate qualification in finance,
economics, business administration and other relevant
disciplines with specialization in investment and/or professional
qualification such as CFA, ACCA and CPA.
• A minimum of 10 years experience in banking/financial
institution at senior management level.
• Hands on experience in bond/bill/currency trading and
structuring.
• Demonstrated experience with equity valuation, equity trading
and derivatives.
• Practical skills in financial modelling.
• Proven ability to implement investment policy.
• Demonstrated leadership and negotiating skills.
• Computer literacy.
An excellent remuneration package commensurate with the level of
experience will be offered.
