Job Title: Accountant
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Stromme Microfmance East Africa Limited (SMF EA Ltd) is a wholesale lending company with a mission to provide, on a sustainable basis, market responsive financial services and capacity building support to financial and business service providers to enhance access to financial services by the enterprising poor in the East African Region, The Accountant will be responsible for the day to day financial recording financial reporting of the Company. He/She will report to the Finance Manager but will work closely with all the other staff of the Company. The candidate must be a committed Christian with demonstrated ability and experience in accounting.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Financial Management and reporting;
• Properly record and post financial transactions in Bushsoft accounting software.
• Withdrawal of Cash from the bank for office use.
• Petty cash management.
• Preparation of Annual budget and monitoring of budget performance of SMF EA Ltd during the year.
• Preparation of Quarterly Cash flow forecasts.
• Preparation of end of year procedures, financial statements and supporting documentation for external audit of the company,
• Preparation of monthly financial statements and management accounts, (Income statement, balance sheet, budget actual analysis)
• Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements.
• Handling financial reporting from and to SMF EA Ltd partners
2.2 Staff
• Timely payment of all staff dues and ensure timely accountabilities by staff
• Remit statutory deductions to the respective authorities on a timely basis.
2.3 Administration
• Arrange for timely payment of insurance for staff and assets of SMF EA Ltd.
• Purchase travel tickets for staff in time for approved travel.
• Pay suppliers and creditors on timely basis.
• Maintain records for fuel usage and reconciliation of fuel use with fuel stations
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
• B.Com/BBA (Accounting Option) In addition to the degree, ACCA would be an added advantage
• Working experience in microfinance of at least 3 years
• Must be a team player
• Willing and able to work with minimum supervision
• Willing to travel to visit SMF partners in the region
• Must not be more than 35 years of age
