"The American Embassy is seeking for an individual for the position of Safety Program Coordinator/Work Control Supervisor the Facilities Maintenance Section."
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
 Incumbent serves as the Safety Program Coordinator with responsibility for assisting the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Fire Protection Division (FIR) programs at post as required by 15 FAM 900 and 15 FAM 800; assures that all government-owned and leased property in country meet the requirements of 15 FAM 253.5, 15 FAM 432, 15 FAM 840, and 15 FAM 950, as well as other related Departmental requirements which may exist. Incumbent reports directly to the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer.
The incumbent additionally manages work control for Facility Maintenance support of Mission facilities including residential properties for multiple agencies, e.g. STATE, USAID, DOD, NIH and CDC.  Assures that work flow conforms to ICASS standards of timeliness and completeness.  Coordinates with Maintenance Foremen and Supervisors on status of assigned work.  Coordinates with other offices and agencies to identify materials, tools, and equipment required for support of work requirements.  Provides direct supervision of the Work Order Clerk.  Provides direction to Section foremen and technicians in the absence of the Maintenance Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE:  All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1.  Education required: Completion of at least 4 years of vocational training in facilities management, environmental safety or construction trades is required.
2.   Work Experience required: Two years experience in maintenance or construction field performing repair work or in the field of occupational safety with experience as a constructions supervisor or work control/quality control assurance inspector with experience managing resources is required.
3.  Language required: Level 3 English ability (good working knowledge) is required.  Level 3 knowledge of local language required
4.  Knowledge required:  Comprehensive knowledge of SHEM and OSHA guidelines and required practices and procedures; general specialist knowledge of environmental safety standards is required.
5. Skills and Abilities required: Standard level keyboard and computer skills to include specialized software, database management, spreadsheets, etc.  Must possess excellent written and oral skills in order to conduct training and drafting of materials and reports in the performance of duties.  Ability to coordinate, prioritize and oversee multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to be flexible, resourceful, service-oriented, and self-motivated, and to work within the existing mission structure is required.
 SELECTION PROCESS

4.   Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their appointment.
5.   Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
