Job Title: Building Local Democracy Advisor - Action Aid Uganda
Job tasks include:

•Provide advice in the design of research relevant to BLD advocacy issues targeted by partners.
•Assist the leadership among AAIUG BLD partners in building effective alliances and networks that effectively coordinate civil society advocacy initiatives at local, regional and national policy.
•Support the partners with useful approaches for documenting effective BLD activities, sharing information and key lessons between national and district partners.
•Support efforts to improve the quality and focus of AAIUG national policy and advocacy work.
•Advise key staff on strategic and effective engagement of public institutions so as to influence national policy frameworks.


Required qualifications:

•Post graduate degree with specialization in governance, public policy or a related field.
•Profound knowledge on BLD/Governance challenges in contexts similar to Uganda.
•Minimum of 4 years BLD related work experience preferably from East/Southern Africa.
•Proven track record of successful policy campaign, advocacy, lobby and alliance building work.
•Demonstrated strategic and policy analysis skills for programmatic context.
•Profound research skills and experience.
•Capacity building experience with solid facilitation, advisory and coaching skills.
•Strong planning and coordination skills.
•Excellent cooperation and team skills.
•Respect for diversity and experience working in multi-cultural settings
