Job Title: Agricultural Value Chain Specialist
Reports: Manager Product Development
Role: Develop and implement a system for analysing Agricultural Value Chains processes to identify Agricultural finance business opportunities for the Bank as per the Divisional Work Plan.
Key Result Areas:
1. Develop and implement annual work plans for the Agricultural Value Chains unit in line with the divisional work plan.
2. Conduct agribusiness risk, profitability and competitiveness analysis of different commercial crops value chains in line with set targets.
3. Identify agricultural products that increase rural family farm incomes when sold on domestic, regional and/or international markets.
4. Develop suitable loan and deposit products that suit Agricultural Value Chain actors in line with the identified needs and Bank policies and procedures.
5. Assess how different crop value chain profitability and competitiveness can be enhanced in an environmentally sustainable way.
6. Review and recommend Agricultural Value Chain innovations that can be effectively supported by the Bank to increase rural family incomes and livelihoods in line with the Bank
policy and procedures
7. Liaise with stake holder to design financial product concepts and proposals for products targeted at micro and smallholder agricultural farmers and other actors in value chains.
8. Prepare and submit monthly reports on the products and services performance to
Management in line with Divisional work plan
Job requirement
Suitable candidate for this post should have:
• An Honour’s degree in Agribusiness management, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture and other relevant field from a recognized University.
Required competences and experience
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in developing financial and service products in reputable Commercial Bank
• Minimum 2 years experience working with one or more agriculture value chains in the field
• Demonstrated experience in research work
• Demonstrated experience in developing financial and service products
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Knowledge of financial sector and economic environment of the Bank " High degree of integrity and confidentiality
• Good communication and Interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage numerous deliverables in a timely and effective manner
• Excellent knowledge of Banking Practices
