Job Title: Country Director

Based in Kampala, Uganda

Salary – £ 40,289 per annum plus benefits on international terms and conditions

ActionAid Uganda is an affiliate of ActionAid International, a global federation of national organizations working together with others to eradicate poverty. ActionAid Uganda works with communities living in poverty, local partners and in collaboration with Government, inter-governmental agencies, development agencies, social movements and networks to strengthen their capacities to advocate for International and National policies that promote attainment of their rights to live a life of dignity free from poverty.



ActionAid Uganda has just finalized its next Country Strategy outlining the strategic focus for the next 6 years. The ActionAid Uganda Board is therefore looking for a committed and inspirational Country Director lead the country team in the implementation of the country strategy by enabling development of high quality programs, sound management and accountability systems; organizational and team development; financial control and resource management; fundraising and liaison with donors to increase and diversify the resource base; policy research and advocacy, relationship and stakeholder management at both national and international levels.



The candidate must hold a post graduate degree in social sciences, development studies or a development related field and at least 10 years proven track record in leading and managing institutions and development programs as well as either being part of social movements or an active member of civil society. S/He should be committed to gender equity, empowering management practices, be value driven and possess strong networking, people and financial management skills. S/He will have the perspectives and competencies for rights-based and policy advocacy work; fundraising and donor relations; regional and international linkages and a sound basis of organizational development. S/He will also show courage of conviction in taking public stand against issues of injustice. The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
