Job Title: Assistant Electrical Engineer

Hima Cement Ltd is a member of Lafarge East Africa and part of the Lafarge Group, the largest building materials company in the world operating in all contmants of the world. Lafarge East Africa ‘ comprises Bamburi Cement Ltd in Kenya and Hima Cement in Uganda.

Hima is looking to fill the position of Assistant Electrical Engineer as per summary below.

Location: Kasese – Uganda
Department: Maintenance
Scope: All plant operations & estates
Reports to: Electrical Engineer
Plant Characteristics: Material Conveyors, Crushers, Mills, Kilns and Packers, 16MW Electrical Demand

Specific responsibilities will include:

Enforces statutory regulations regarding safety, health and welfare of the electrical team.
Ensure the proper scheduling, planning and executing of all electrical maintenance activities of the entire plant to achieve the plant reliability level.
Performing “hands on” operation and maintenance electrical duties.
Maintaining and operating substation high voltage electrical equipment and systems.
Reviewing plant electrical related operational and equipment problems.
Monitors, studies and improves the Plant’s Power Distribution system network.
Carry out liaison responsibilities with Power supply authorities (UMEME).
Contributes to the preparation of the annual electrical maintenance budget.
Work very closely with plant departments and sections effective co-ordination of maintenance programs.
Provides on the spot guidance as required, develops skills, trains, motivates, carries out coaching and performance appraisal of the employees in the section.
In the absence of the Electrical Engineer, represents the electrical section in all plant operational meetings

Requirement:

We are looking for a self motivated and enthusiastic individual who must have the following:

A degree in Electrical Engineering with 2-3 years experience or a Higher National Diploma with at least 4 years experience working in an busy industrial environment.
Hands-on experience in relays, circuit breakers, switch gears, transformers, field instrumentations and PLC base process control systems.
Solid understanding of equipment testing, evaluation, calibration techniques, predictive inspection tools and computer based maintenance management systems (CMMS).
IT literacy and reporting skills
