Job Title:Deputy Country Director- Uganda Gulu
VSO is an international development agency that works through volunteer professionals to fight global poverty and disadvantage. VSO is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Country Director who will be responsible for leading the team in northern Uganda in all aspects of programme management, business development and resource mobilization.
The job entails: -
Business Development
Analyse the development context and needs, engaging all relevant stakeholders in northern Uganda, and leading business development focusing on the delivery of the country strategy.
Programme Funding
In collaboration with the CD and funding Managers, lead in developing innovative programme proposals targeting northern Uganda to maximise the external funding base.
Programme Management
Coach team members to develop and effectively implement planning and review systems to ensure they deliver against plans, including appropriate reporting and monitoring.
Volunteer Support
Working with the support team, ensure volunteer duty of care and support and maintain a culture of partnership between volunteers and the Programme Office, including feedback mechanisms and adherence to VSO standards.
People Management
Effectively manage the staff and volunteer team within the performance management framework and coach line reports.
Security and Risk Management
Ensure emergency and risk management for the northern Uganda office, in accordance with laid out guidelines and ensuring staff and volunteer awareness and compliance
Requirement:
Qualification and Experience:-
* A highly strategic thinker with demonstrable skills in programme management at a senior level for at least five years.
* A relevant Masters degree with at least five years experience in development work, four of which should be at senior management level.
* Experience of youth programming, education sector and health related activities will be a distinct advantage.
