AGE : 30 YEARS AND ABOVE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING EXPERIENCE:
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Electrical or Mechanical or Chemical Engineering plus a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in any of the above field from a recognized University/Institution.
He/she must be a registered Engineer with the Uganda Engineers Registration Board (UERB).
Applicants should have a minimum of nine (9) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been gained at the level of Principal Engineer in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
He/she should have the ability to coach, mentor and develop subordinates effectively.
DUTIES:-
The incumbent will be responsible to the Commissioner Industry for performing the following duties:
Initiating, formulating, and articulating MSME policies and regulatory framework to promote MSME development in the country.
Planning, coordinating and supervising MSME programs and activities of the department.

Participating in the Industry and Technology department inputs to the formulation of the Ministry BFP and Policy Statements; and manage the division budget.
Collaborating with other Ministries, Local Government Authorities and public and private sector institutions like Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), Management Training and Advisory Centre (MTAC), Enterprise Uganda, Private Sector Foundation of Uganda; development partners, and the civil society in designing and implementing MSME promotion programmes.
Liaising with Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) in promoting and implementation of standardization of MSME products in the country.
Liaising with Uganda Industrial research Institute (UIRI) to assist MSME’s in promoting industrial research, business incubation and development of new technologies.
Liaising with other Assistant Commissioners as well as Heads of Departments and Institutions affiliated to the Ministry to carry out the Ministry’s mandate.
Supervising, coaching and mentoring staff under his/ her division.
Strengthening the Industry Departments representation in key meetings and deputizing for the Commissioner in his absence.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
