About this job

Our client dealing in energy products is seeking a motivated, creative and experienced engineer to provide technical supervisory services for the Fenix suite of renewable energy products. This person will work directly with the East Africa Regional Business Development & Sales Manager to ­­­­­­­help, provide technical support for product testing and pilots, manage inventory and repairs, and provide regular reports on technical issues.

This position offers an incredible opportunity to work with an elite team of business professionals and engineers and directly contribute to the success of a Silicon Valley start up. Candidates must have a passion for engineering, entrepreneurship, renewable energy and sustainable development in Frontier Markets. This position will be located in Uganda and require domestic travel. Some regional travel may also be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Provide technical support for product testing and pilots with multinational corporations, international NGOs, microfinance institutions, and local distribution partners
    Offer product training with technical partners
    Manage inventory of products & spare parts
    Manage and conduct repairs
    Collect, analyze and report data on technical issues and repairs
    Set up process and systems to ensure high quality after-sales services
    Provide ICT support to Fenix team members

Qualifications:

    Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
    Comprehensive fluency in English
    Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
    Ability to work well with a team
    Ability to work independently and take initiative
    Familiarity with debugging and repairing electronic circuit boards
    Leadership experience
    Ability to manage inventory of products and spare parts
    Ability and drive to work independently
    Business level competency of English, Luganda and other local Ugandan languages
    Experience managing inventory and/or after-sales services
    Experience in hardware repair
    Understanding of renewable energy technologies and industry in East Africa
    2-3 years work experience
