Specific requirements:
Brief description: To deliver and administer programmes in support of DFID Uganda’s strategic objectives which include contributing to policy discussions, the influencing agenda and meeting corporate communications and reporting requirements.
DFID Uganda is seeking a resourceful, experienced professional to fill in the following job vacancy.
Main Responsibilities
Make contributions to strategic level policy discussions.
Effectively manage a range of large and complex programmes, ensuring results and value for money.
Effectively use DFID systems to manage projects, monitor progress and risks, evaluate and report on project results.
Contribute to the design and appraisal of new projects/programmes and provide
procedural guidance in accordance with DFID procedures.
Manage all operational/implementation aspects of programme management - determine priorities and agree on ways of working with lead advisers.
Attend conferences, workshops and meetings on behalf of/in the absence of Lead Adviser and clarify DFID’s policy objectives when required.
Provide information to the Departmental Finance Officer that will feed into financial corporate returns and operate DFID Finance systems accurately and on a timely basis.
Ensure all information on the DFID system for the projects managed is accurate and can be easily understood.
Work closely with the wider programme management team to provide inputs and advice when required.
Work closely with the Government of Uganda and other development partners in-country to identify problems or obstacles and develop and implement practical solutions.
Ensure and Support Communications and Corporate Compliance
Qualifications:
Essential: A Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Business Administration or equivalent.
Preferred: Qualifications in Project Management and Administration.
Experience A minimum of 5 years experience managing programmes or projects.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
Excellent knowledge of Project Cycle Management
>li>Strong financial management knowledge and experience.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver results.
Ability to see through delegated decisions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A self-starter
Preferred
Knowledge of the Growth or Wealth Creation Sectors
