Job Title : Project Manager – Food Security and Recovery (1 Position) Grade : UR 6.1

Location : Abim Sub Branch - Kotido Branch
Duration : Two Years
Job Summary:
The Project Manager - Food Security and Livelihoods will plan, organize and direct the Food Security and Livelihoods Project of URCS; will be the lead person on all recovery/food
security matters and coordinate with other stakeholders/ agencies having recovery/food security responsibilities within the URCS /GRC Abim Project.
Specific Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Oversees assessments/reviews and the shaping of agreed plans, including budgets, in accordance with the project plans;
• Oversees the project plans and arrangements developed for the Project and work with the Focal Persons to ensure that the targeted communities are actively involved and contributing to risk reduction.
• Works with the community in identifying community issues, needs and problems and acts as the facilitator to the project work;
• Links up with Branch Manager to develop workable project indicators that can be used in monitoring and evaluation of projects;
• Provides technical support and trainings to community groups;
• Ensures timely and quality submission of all project reports, updates and situational reports to the Branch Manager ;
• Ensures the timely provision of project updates to the supervisors as well as additional information to be used for fundraising and media when required;
• Provides timely security information to the branch as a priority;
• Undertakes monitoring of projects through field visits and ongoing communication to review progress, feedback, identify corrective actions required and captures learning’s;
• Enlists the cooperation of all stakeholders in pursuing the project objectives;
• Within project plans and agreed budget, provides a full, accurate and timely accounting of all funds.
• Promotes after action reviews/lessons learned and encourages an openness to feedback from beneficiaries and communities and learning’s;
• Undertakes and guides project proposals on behalf of community groups together with Project Focal Persons and provides progress reports.
Minimum qualifications, experience and competences:
Qualifications and Experience:
University degree in humanities /environment or strong field experiences related to the position.
Three years experience in livelihood activities eg, water and sanitation, environment management, or community mobilization with a reputable organization or Government
Competences:
Very good working knowledge of English and Karamojong/Luo languages (written and oral).
Computer literacy in MS word, excel, power point etc; Strong background in field operations, working with rural communities, community mobilization, management, planning and budgeting; Leadership, organizing, planning, problem solving & creativity skills;
Team management, training and facilitation skills; Interest in sharing professional skill as well as learning from others; Analytical, M&E skills; Financial management skills and experience.
