Job Title: Project Accountant
POSITION LOCATION: USAID, OFM OFFICE
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week
POSITION GRADE: FSN-9 (Ugshs. 46,611,028 to 67,376,773
p.a. inclusive of allowances).
USAID/Uganda is recruiting a qualified Ugandan to fill the position of Project Accountant.
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
To provide expert advice on financial matters relating to project accounting, analysis and financial reporting (both written and oral presentations).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Education: A university degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
2. Work Experience: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in professional accounting or auditing.
3. Language Requirement: Must be fluent in English language.
4. Knowledge: Demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of professional accounting principles, theories, and practices.
5. Skills and Abilities: Must be able to analyze accounting processes and identify practices and procedures that require correction or modification. Be able to efficiently formulate recommendations for maintaining specialized segments of accounting systems. Excellent verbal communication skills, tact and diplomacy in order to establish and develop sustainable working relations and a high level of trust with mid-level officials when dealing with Value Added Tax. Excellent mathematical and writing skills are required in order to prepare regular and frequent ad hoc reports including data calls from USAID/Washington. Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience and ability to work in teams and to achieve consensus of fiscal policy and accounting practices is necessary. Computer literacy in excel and other computer skills in order to manage the accounting system.
