Applicants must have
BSc. Engineering in Electrical and Electronics engineering and / or Equivalent.
Operation and management of Telecommunication services
Three years in underground cable construction and maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyse the demand for different services (demand characterization, evaluation and forecasting).
Subscriber Access design, that is, evaluation of the connection requirements of subscribers to their local exchanges.
Use summaries on key facilities of the local network (cabinets, distribution points, junctions, etc.) as well as demand forecast data to prepare basic plans for the areas of priority planning requirements in order to assess the scope and approximate cost of each scheme.
Produce subscribers’ cable distribution schemes and junction cable schemes by checking fundamental plan for cable schemes
Check on the method of construction proposed on the plans to ensure that there is sufficient space in the underground duct system and distribution points and cabinets are in the right places.
Assess resources required to do the work by checking the validity of the cost of schemes and suggest amendments so as to exercise economy.
Liaise with public undertakers such as Kampala Capital City Authority, UMEME, National Water and Sewerage Corporation and Ministry of Works and Transport on road re-alignment and construction concerning the removal of UTL plant and informs the undertakers of the cost that will be involved.
Prepare correspondences and answer queries on availability of spare plant, completion of cable schemes and unforeseen delays in implementation of the plans.
Prepare annual return of cable requirements based on current stocks and projected works to enable preparation of future cable indents.
Coordinate with the engineering drawing office by ensuring that outside plant drawings are prepared accurately
