Job Title: Propagation/Interference Analyst (1)
Reports to: Spectrum Occupancy and Interference Officer
Role: The job holder is the Technical front line/ on the ground Consultant for propagation and interference assessments and investigations of radio frequency spectrum in support of planning, monitoring, utilization functions of the Unit and Commission.
Key Result Areas:
a. Perform periodic detailed analysis and generate reports of occupancy measurements in order to advise on interference protection levels and usability of the radio frequency spectrum;
b. Investigate and identify likely sources and nature of interference amongst various radio frequency allocations, assignments, radio equipment and network installations and services;
c. Analyze and report trends related to interference protection levels for various allocated and assigned spectrum and related service bands and radio equipment installations;
d. Study and analyse propagation characteristics of radio frequency signals and transmissions for various technologies and network deployments and report on impact on occupancy and interference protection levels;
e. Assess and advise on appropriate radio equipment installations and operational technical parameters, specifications and conditions required to control or ensure no interference for proposed spectrum assignments and planned allocation bands;
f. Operate, maintain databases and advise on the adequacy of systems, tools and equipment used to conduct interference and propagation analyses, tests and assessments;
g. Provide technical support to the Regional offices regarding mitigation and resolution of interference and radio equipment and network installations; and
h. Participate and contribute to planning and monitoring activities including technical evaluation and enforcement of non compliance and conformity issues, radio frequency spectrum and equipment, illegal and misuse cases, correspondences with clients and administrative function of the Unit.
Qualification
· A Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Electronic, Electrical or Radio Communications Engineering from a recognized Institute or university.
Experience and Knowledge
· At least two (2) years of hands on experience in radio frequency, spectrum management or radio – frequency communications, preferably in the Telecommunications and/or ICT sector;
· Must demonstrate good interpersonal and customer relations skills;
· Possession of excellent analytical and report writing skills and technical acumen; and
· Possession of high level of accuracy, integrity and honesty
