Job Purpose:
To maintain and manage Uganda Telecom’s Information Systems, ensure adequate capacity, system availability and excellent user support is provided.
Applicants must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information technology, Information systems Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or other related Engineering Discipline required.
Working experience of at least 4 years in IT service delivery with experiences in both technical and supervisory roles
Duties and Responsibilities:
To develop and implement the IT and business systems budget, obtaining competitive proposals from suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness
To design and implement business continuity plans, disaster prevention and disaster recovery technologies for the organization and external customers
To develop and enforce enterprise-wide IT resource policies and standards
To ensure the availability of the systems and customer data from internal and external attacks
To ensure effective monitoring of systems both at platform and service level
To maintain an updated record of the whole network (Routers, Servers, switches, cabling, nodes, addresses)
To review of service level agreements (SLAs) and making sure they are abiding according to the business objectives.
To manage crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems taking appropriate actions to safeguard data and equipment.
To evaluate user needs, system functionality and ensuring that IT & business systems facilities meet these needs.
To schedule upgrades and backups of hardware and software systems
To prepare, maintain and test technology disaster recovery plan.
To ensure smooth running of all IT and business systems, including antivirus software, print services and email provision.
To provide secure access to the IT network resources for remote users
To research, install new systems and keep up to date with the latest IT technologies
To ensure that the daily, weekly and monthly IT service usage reports and performance dashboards are delivered in time including real-time notifications
To mentor and train new IT and Business systems Support Staff
To establish production schedules and assign staff to ensure efficient operation of IT systems and meet the changing requirements
To initiate procurement processes and follow up on delivery schedules.
To prepare budgets and monitor all costs and expenses falling under IT infrastructure and security
