Job Title:            laboratory Technologist –microbiology
Reports to:       senior laboratory technologist 
Job purpose:    to conduct general laboratory investigations to aid in disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control
Key functions:
•    Collecting, receiving and analyzing specimens for microbiology specimen
•    Implementing bio-safety and bio security guidelines
•    Interpreting and reporting results for microbiology specimen
•    Coaching and supervising staff and students
•    Requisitioning for laboratory materials and sundries
•    Developing and implementing standards operating procedures
•    Assist in laboratory response to disease outbreaks
•    Write periodic performance reports for submission to the supervisor
Qualifications:
•    Must have at least three years relevant working experience in laboratory practice in a regional referral or national referral or research laboratory
Competence:
•    Demonstrated ability in good laboratory practices
•    Ability to train and supervise laboratory staff in laboratory QA/QC
•    Communication and good interpersonal skills
