Job Title: Children’s Rights and Advocacy Specialist
Location: Kampala

Reporting to the Programme Support Manager, the incumbent will act as a resource to the planning, implementation, learning and evaluation of country program strategies with the aim of continuously improving the quality of our Children's Rights and Advocacy programming, He/she will lead on programme design, advocacy, research, and capacity building in this technical field in Plan Uganda.

Main Responsibilities
1. Leads the design, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of child-centered programmes and projects on Children's Rights.
2. Leads the development and delivery of Plan Uganda's Advocacy Strategy
3. Leads Plan Uganda's programme on Birth and Death Registration
4. Provides support in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of child-centered programmes and projects on Children's Rights and Advocacy
5. Supports resource mobilization and the development of grant proposals
6. Facilitates capacity building and organisational learning through delivery of trainings, documentation and dissemination of information on Children's Rights and Advocacy programmes.
7. Represents Plan at national level on matters relating to Children's Rights programming and networks within and outside of Plan
8. Develops and/or supports partnerships and cooperation with other organisations at national level on child-centred activities and interventions relating to Children's Rights programming,

Essential Competencies and Experience
• Master's degree (preferred) in Human Rights, Social Sciences or its equivalent.
• At least 5 years managerial or technical advisory experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of Children's Rights and Advocacy programmes.
• Significant legal training/background and professional training on programming and/or related field
• Knowledge of the environment and current effective
• Plan, practice of Children's Rights and Advocacy program Uganda.
• Demonstrable abilities in planning, budgeting and
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work with people from diverse cultures, ability to lead and motivate people to work in teams
• Excellent communication skills, both in written English and in face-to-face presentations.
• Skilled in the use of standard computer software.
• Willingness to undertake extensive travel throughout Uganda and internationally [at least 30% of time)
