Job Description

The position reports to the Business Marketing Manager.

The main purpose of the job is to maintain MTN Uganda’s leadership in the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) segment of the telecoms market through planning and implementation of the Company’s’ annual SME marketing strategy & plan in line with the marketing plan.

To take responsibility for SME marketing strategy formulation & execution and assume joint accountability for acquisition, retention and usage within this segments.

To determine the SME promotional support to Sales department including “above and below the line” advertising, sponsorships and other initiatives in order to maximize specified goals of market penetration, revenues and profits and to ensure that MTN maintains its dominance of the SME market.
Job Responsibilities

The prime responsibilities of this position are:

• To manage all SME marketing issues and works closely with Business Marketing Manager, Chief Marketing Officer, and Marketing & Sales team.

• To manage the company’s SME segment advertising, promotions and direct marketing activities.

• To assist the Head of Business Sales & SME Sales Manager in development of the annual business marketing plan.

• To assist the Head of Business Sales & SME Sales Manager in developing an annual SME Sales Strategy.

• To develop and implement an annual business marketing plan to drive acquisition, retention and usage within the SME segment in line with the marketing plan/strategy.

• To develop and embed customer value propositions for SME products and services.

• To ensure MTN Uganda achieves penetration, market share and profitability objectives in the SME segment of the business market.

• To understand and keep track of business needs and preferences in order to identify new opportunities and works with product development team to develop, launch and manage products for the SME market.

• To develop and manage the SME and/or business marketing budget .

• To optimise return on business marketing spend through effective advertising campaigns, media schedules, gifts etc .

• To ensure the provision of appropriate management reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• To monitor competitor activities in the market place and propose appropriate action plans.
• To manage key third party suppliers to ensure optimal delivery of SME marketing plan objectives.
Job Requirements

The applicant should have a Bachelor’s degree in Business with Specialization in Marketing with post graduate in marketing preferably CIM and must have 4 years marketing experience in a competitive multi-product international company preferably in business to business marketing.

The candidate must have a good understanding of marketing fundamentals especially business to business marketing, have the ability to translate abstract ideas into tangible benefits be a good team player with excellent customer orientation, have the ability to understand MTN global brand direction, initiatives and CI rules.

The applicant must also be self motivated, with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. In addition he or she must be creative, observant and alert to environmental changes and trends and able to think strategically.
