SCHOLARSHIPS FOR UGANDANS FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDY IN AUSTRALIA

The Australian Government, in partnership with the Government of Uganda, is offering a limited number of Australian
Development Scholarships commencing in January 2011. The scholarships are for study for 12-24 months at Masters
level in Australia at Australian Universities.
Target Group:
􀂃 You are a national of Uganda
􀂃 You are an early or mid-career professional currently employed by a Ugandan public sector organisation or training
institution (includes parastatals and other public sector entities)
􀂃 You wish to undertake a Masters degree in Australia in one of the listed priority fields of study
􀂃 You have a clear vision for how you will use the knowledge gained through the Masters degree to improve policy and
practice in Uganda in the proposed field of study.
Eligibility:
􀂃 You must be less than 50 years of age at date of application
􀂃 You possess, as a minimum, either a three-year bachelors degree and at least three years’ post-graduation work
experience; or a bachelors degree longer that three years and at least two years’ post-graduation work
experience
􀂃 You meet all of the eligibility criteria as listed on www.adsafrica.com.au
Priority Sectors:
􀂃 Agriculture and food security
􀂃 Mining, minerals and natural resource management (Gas and Petroleum, Mapping and Geological surveys)
􀂃 Public policy including public sector reform, trade and diplomacy
􀂃 Maternal and child health
􀂃 Education (Science and Special needs Education)
Applications:
Applicants should submit the following documents to the address listed below:
􀂃 a completed preliminary application form (available on the website: www.adsafrica.com.au or from Ministry of
Education and Sports, Kampala);
􀂃 a current curriculum vitae in English;
􀂃 a certified copy of your university degree(s) and transcripts
􀂃 a certified copy of your identity document
Scholarships cover airfares, tuition fees, medical cover and a living allowance in Australia. Female applicants and people
with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Failure to complete the preliminary application form and submit all documentation requested will lead to automatic
disqualification. No undergraduate or PhD nominations will be considered.
Study in Australia is subject to the successful applicant being issued with a visa by the Australian Department of
Immigration and Citizenship.
