Job title: Policy Advisor, Community Health Alliance, Uganda

Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU), formerly The International HIV&AIDS Alliance in Uganda is looking to fill the key position of policy advisor.

The International HIV&AIDS Alliance in Uganda is currently undergoing an exciting transition to become Community Health Alliance Uganda (CHAU) and is looking to fill the key position of policy advisor. The organisation is scaling up its policy work to meet the new challenges of the Uganda context.

Working nationally through coalitions with other civil society organizations and internationally with other Alliance members. CHAU will soon be launching an HIV Prevention campaign dubbed “What is Preventing Prevention in Uganda?” CHAU is also collaborating in the implementation of a multi-country advocacy programme to address maternal, newborn and child health issues for people affected by HIV and AIDS.

CHAU also hosts a multi-stakeholder web-based advocacy platform (Partners Uganda) for citizen journalists who regularly generate grass root advocacy news for the attention of policy makers. To effectively develop this growing policy agenda, CHAU is looking for an innovative, flexible, dynamic, passionate, self driven person to fill the position of Policy Advisor to manage the operations of the policy advocacy unit.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have postgraduate training in public health and or social sciences, human rights and laws, development studies. Extensive experience in HIV& AIDS related Policy work with demonstrated success at managing advocacy programmes/ initiatives. Demonstrated experience in developing innovative policy advocacy and campaign work and will be an added advantage. An insight into the workings of government policy framework and processes will be an added advantage.

CHAU is also looking for a dynamic and flexible Driver/Office Assistant to support the Policy Unit and Directors office.

The driver must have at least S6 (A-level) certificate of education. Computer skills, a good command of Business English and general knowledge of development issues in Uganda will be an added advantage.
