Victoria University Uganda- Foundation Programme

Foundation Programme

At Victoria University, we believe that a student's past academic record is not the only indication of their future potential.

Many students do not have the opportunity to demonstrate their academic ability at school. Some underperform in examinations; others may have been awarded qualifications which fall short of international standards.

We recognise the benefits of an intellectually diverse student body and want to encourage applicants from a wide range of educational backgrounds.

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is designed for prospective undergraduate students who have completed 12 years of school education in their home country but do not possess the qualifications required for direct entry to one of our degree programmes.

The IFP will prepare you for undergraduate study at Victoria University by

* Improving your written and verbal English language skills
* Introducing you to our teaching and assessment methods
* Developing your independent and group study skills
* Honing your analytical and critical thinking abilities
* Expanding your academic knowledge through courses related to your intended degree subject
* Encouraging professional standards of personal conduct and dress

Satisfactory completion of the IFP guarantees progression to your chosen degree programme, subject to a formal application and acceptance process. You will also be eligible for entry to the degree programmes of the University of Buckingham, our academic partners in the United Kingdom.

The IFP is taught at Victoria University in Kampala. However, the qualification you receive on completion of the programme is awarded by the University of Buckingham. This means that, whilst it is geared towards the specific educational requirements of students from Uganda and neighbouring countries, the IFP draws on a British academic tradition which is recognise throughout the world.

We are confident that you will choose to continue your studies with Victoria University. However, if you choose to move on after completing the IFP, you will find that other educational institutions and potential employers look favourably on the international standard of excellence embodied in your qualification.
