Job Title: Child Protection Coordinator

Reports to: Project Manager
The Child Protection Coordinator is part of the team that is entrusted to implement this comprehensive package of increasing availability of protection and legal services to VC households, s/he will ensure implementation of quality child protection and legal support intervention across the implementing partners through strengthening systems and procedures at community and district levels that increase access to child protection services by all VC identified by SCORE project
Key Responsibilities
• Act as primary focal point and help drive the planning, implementation, design, monitoring and evaluation processes for the Child Help line project and look out for creative solutions to operational issues hindering effective project implementation
• link and work closely with relevant structures to ensures VC are protected and are accessing appropriate and relevant services
• Assist in the development of an action plan framework to address key issues of concern for VC, arising from the monitoring and reporting of violations and supports actions and strategies developed in response to incidents or violations of children's rights
• Provide direct technical support supervision to partners' child protection staff and the maintenance of high quality program implementation to achieve maximum coverage and impact in coordination with other program technical areas
• Oversee and put in place capacity building for communities, government structures and partners through on going mentoring to improve service provision (prevention, protection and response), referral networks, monitoring of child rights abuses and strengthening the legal framework
• Ensure the program provides a platform for children to express their ideas and opinions on their rights and responsibilities through child participation


Job requirement

Person specification/ Qualifications
• Bachelors degree + Masters (or equivalent) in social work. Psychology, Anthropobgy and social sciences.
• At least 5 years working experience in implementing programs for children
• An ability to communicate effectively and strong conceptual ability, and writing skills
• 2-3 years experience in managing partnerships, and organizational capacity building of local organizations
• Adult learning and facilitation skills are a prerequisite
• Understanding of human rights, policies, strategies, institutional and legal framework as regards the protection of Vulnerable children
• Excellent facilitation, mobilisation, communication, documentation and team work skills.
• Demonstration of ability to work under minimum supervision
