Job Title: Bookkeeper

The Timothy Centre is seeking a hands-on bookkeeper to manage the day to day financial record keeping and assist with other financial reporting as required. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the bookkeeper will be responsible for the bookkeeping of the NGO’s two projects. This position will initially be part time at 4 days per week and increase to fulltime as the projects grow. The Timothy Centre contains a girls’ high school and a teacher training centre and is located in Kyabakuza just outside of Masaka town.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Track outstanding cash and gather cash accountability sheets.

• Reconcile daily cash sheets.

• Post expenses in Quickbooks accounting software.

• Manage monthly payroll records and prepare payslips.

• Prepare monthly NSSF and URA remittances.

• Prepare cheque requisitions for vendor payments.

• Track school fee payments and update outstanding accounts for followup.

• Produce monthly spending reports for departments.

• Maintain accurate records on spending for building and special projects.

• Assist with month end financial statement preparation.

• Reconcile staff loan and deferred income spreadsheets.

• Reconcile intercompany transactions between the two projects.
Preferred Skills:

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Diploma in Business Studies preferably in Accounting or Finance.

• Must be computer literate and have skills in M/S Word and Excel.

• Experience with a computerized accounting system is a must.

• Three years of related experience.

• Must have good organizational, interpersonal and reporting skills.

• Ability to work independently and use sound judgment.

• A commitment to Christian Education and a follower of Jesus Christ evidenced by a written statement of faith
