Job Title: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (4 VACANCIES) REF. DSC 15/70/02 SALARY SCALE: UGANDA GOVERNMENT SCALE-KCCA 7 AGE: 25YEARS AND ABOVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE: Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering from a recognized university/awarding institution. Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience gained at the officer level in Government or equivalent level of working experience in an Electrical works related reputable organization He/she should have the following Key competences: Ability to work as part of a team and to develop subordinates; excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills; ability to work and produce accurate results in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks; high level of integrity, and ability to work extended hours. Computer based skills (MS Office package a must) and AutoCAD based knowledge DUTIES:- The incumbent will be responsible to the Electrical Services Supervisor for performing the following duties:- ? Implementing work processes and procedures, standards and specifications database as a way of adopting a Quality Management System. ? Performing electrical related works while ensuring timely deliverables, cost tolerances and Quality of workmanship. ? Carrying out operation and maintenance of Street Lighting systems as well as Traffic Lighting Systems in Kampala by setting up and updating equipment databases. ? Carrying out Electrical Installations for buildings, UPS and Standby Generator operation, and maintenance and design modifications in the respective KCCA divisions. ? Carrying out proper Energy Management on Street Lights and within Buildings by identifying and reporting any anomalies in this regard. ? Compiling technical specification for procurement requests as well as updating drawings. ? DSC 15/70/02 SALARY SCALE: UGANDA GOVERNMENT SCALE-KCCA 8 AGE: 25 YEARS AND ABOVE PSC EXTERNAL ADVERT NO. 4/2012 31 MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND WORKING EXPERIENCE: Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Ordinary Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunication from a recognized awarding institution. Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience gained at the assistant officer level in Government or equivalent level of working experience in an Electrical works related reputable organization He/she should have the following Key competences: Electrical Installations, control wiring, Air Conditioning systems, Equipment Earthing (NEC/IEEE standards) and Low Voltage power distribution, network operation and maintenance. Ability to work as part of a team, excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills; ability to work and produce accurate results in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks; high level of integrity, and ability to work extended hours Computer based skills (MS Office package) DUTIES:- The incumbent will be responsible to the Electrical Engineer for performing the following duties:- ? Reporting to the Electrical Engineer on Electrical related issues in KCCA. ? Performing routine assignments, electrical installation works, testing and commissioning of equipment, buildings, generator set, street lighting and traffic lights. ? Implementing work processes and procedures, standards and specifications database as a way of adopting a Quality Management System. ? Executing electrical related works while ensuring timely deliverables, cost tolerances and Quality of workmanship. ? Maintaining and updating the maintenance database by monitoring equipment failure to minimize equipment downtime. ? Responsible for troubleshooting on all electrical installations for buildings, UPS and Standby Generators and reinstating proper functionality. ? Ensuring efficient Energy Management on Street Lights and within Buildings by reporting any anomalies that may arise. ? Ensuring safety of equipment and personnel by using acceptable engineering standards practices while executing works. ?
