Job Title: Accountant About this job Our Client AFRIpads (U) Ltd a pro-poor social business founded in 2009 that locally manufactures and sells low-cost, cloth (washable) sanitary pads is seeking an experienced, highly qualified Accountant to oversee and drive the financial planning and reporting duties of the company. The position reports directly to the managing directors, and will be responsible for all accounting related tasks, including – basic expense planning, data entry, quarterly reporting, all tax related issues with URA, company payroll, and other tasks. This person will also help to improve and develop the accounting practices and financial organization of the company. Job Description AFRIpads (U) Ltd. is seeking an experienced professional. We only wish to hire truly extraordinary candidates that will help take our start-up company to the next levels of impact and scale and develop an extremely organized financial system within. Duties and Responsibilities: Management of general company accounts in Uganda: roll-up and input all accounts from various departments (production, logistics, sales & marketing, management, etc.). Close books at the end of the month: integrate all accounts from both Uganda and the Netherlands (parent company) for an overview of financial position at the end of each month. Quarterly reporting: update and submit profit & loss, balance sheet and cashflow statement in a professional format to present to board of directors. Budget vs. actual analysis: prepare reports on how each department and overall company is preforming in regards to designated budget. Petty cash disbursement and tracking: handle all petty cash requests given by various department heads and build efficient systems to minimize any fraud opportunities. Specific projects/grants handling: some projects with partners will require separate financial tracking and reporting. Submit local Uganda Revenue Authority Audit: organize and submit company audit to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) via e-tax system. Manage company payroll: organize proper payment of 40+ staff including all benefits (NSSF, PAYE, Bonuses, etc. Improve books of company: as a start-up company, AFRIpads Ltd. can use the knowledge of an experienced accountant to improve the internal accounting process and external reporting system(s). Qualifications: 3-5 years minimum working experience as accountant. Diverse finance experience. We are seeking someone who has experience in a wide variety of finance functions. Accounting experience working within a company (as opposed to banking). Accounting experience in production/manufacturing related field. Accounting experience in working in a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial organization. Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from an accredited university; Master’s preferred. Strong academic achievement (please submit GPA and transcript with your CV). Advanced knowledge of particular accounting software (for example Quickbooks, Tally, etc.). Mastery of English with excellent command of the language, both written and oral. Complete familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, and exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Flexibility with shifting priorities and competing demands in a fast-paced and challenging work environment. Ability to create and manage budgets for production and involved materials.
