Salary scale: UBOS P4.
Reports to: Senior Officer, Logistics and Supplies
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepare motor vehicle specifications for the organisation before procurement in
accordance with the government guidelines and regulations and advise on their
disposal schedules.
2. Deploy and supervise drivers in accordance with the rotation policy.
3. Prepare monthly vehicle status and performance reports using the motor vehicle log
books.
4. Compute the motor vehicle maintenance costs per activity/programme and prepare a
report on each vehicle on a quarterly basis.

5. Participate in the evaluation of motor vehicle service and repairs in accordance with
the PPDA regulations.
6. Issue vehicle movement orders and gate passes in accordance with approved
itineraries.
7. Ensure that all UBOS vehicles are insured according to their respective schedules.
8. Certify work done by the garages and service providers after service/ repairs before
payments can be effected.
9. Participate in the preparation and management of the budget for the operation and
maintenance of the Bureau vehicles in accordance with the Public Finance
Regulations.
10. Manage the pool fuel in accordance with the Transport policy and finance regulations
Minimum Requirements
An Honours degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Transport Economics, or a Higher
Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years working
experience in automobile industry.
Training in Fleet management, Motor vehicle mechanics and maintenance is
desirable.
Membership to the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Management will be
an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years working experience managing a fleet of at least 50 vehicles is
essential.
Good knowledge of Government of Uganda Vehicle management regulations is
essential.
Practical experience of using computerized fleet management systems is an added
advantage.
Good analytical, problem solving and report writing skills.
Ability to work under pressure and stressful environments.
Be able to appreciate diversity and possess excellent team building and
management skills.
