The post holder will ensure the operational excellence of Malaria Consortium's programmes in Africa by ensuring strong management support services, excluding finance. The post holder will make substantial contributions to the development and periodic review of relevant organisation wide policies, procedures and management tools.
The successful candidate will provide technical support to country offices to develop operational strategies which ensure that programmes are delivered efficiently, on time and on budget. Part of the role will require you to participate in business development by developing and/or reviewing narrative and budget proposals and ensure they adequately describe and provide resources for operational implementation. You will also get involved in the development of standardised operations and management of reports and gather necessary operational information to feed into the organisation's value for money framework and ensure that data gathered is used for decision making.
You will assist country offices in transitioning between operational structures and strategies where necessary and review and implementation of Malaria Consortium's operational management strategies, policies and procedures, ensuring that they meet industry best practice. You will also Support country directors in trouble shooting specific safety and security incidents and ensure that security management plan and related standard operating procedures are regularly updated.
Overall, you will need to represent and promote Malaria Consortium as a quality partner and specialised technical agency at every opportunity and perform other duties as required by the Africa Programme Director.
The successful candidate will have
Educated to degree level
At least eight years progressive management and leadership experience
Strong knowledge of public donor compliance, including USAID, DFID and Global Fund
Solid knowledge and understanding of operations and logistics management Experience in HR and information systems management
Competency with word processing, spread sheets and databases
Experience working with INGOs in Africa
Experience managing security in a complex environment
Strong systems orientation
Flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
Ability to work in multi-cultural environments
Broad knowledge of operations issues in countries where Malaria Consortium operates
Proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
Fluent in English
