Job Title: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
The position holder will drive the business development activities of UAP in such a manner as to ensure the development and maintenance of a strong and profitable business portfolio and the promotion of a positive image of the company in the market place.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Develop a coherent and multifaceted business development strategy that is able to deliver corporate objectives for underwritten premium value and market penetration.
Take charge of brand management and promotional activities and liaise with/manage external service providers as necessary.
Participate in the budgetary process and take responsibility for the achievement of departmental budgets; must monitor departmental activities to ensure that they remain within the budgetary provisions.
Develop and implement an effective PR and communication strategy that ensures that both current and potential customers are kept informed of UAP’s operations, products and service standards.
Conduct on-going market analysis to identify immediate and future business growth opportunities and put in place effective plans for their achievement.
Develop and maintain close relationships with decision makers and buyers of insurance policies in corporate organisations so as to be privy of their current and future needs and ensure that UAP is invited to bid and given favorable consideration.
Track all advertised 'expression of interest' requests, ensure that these are responded to in a timely manner and follow up to ensure that UAP gets invited to tender. In cases where the company is not invited, follow up to determine the reasons for failing to qualify and communicate to management team.
Support the technical team in developing and bringing suitable, high quality products to market and prepare the market for new product introductions and a smooth roll out of such products.
Manage the agency network and ensure that the team is well trained, is allocated challenging targets, performs to set standards and is well supported.
Manage, develop and oversee the operations of the branch teams. This will include setting targets, monitoring performance, training and development.
Monitor quality of service in the market place and highlight issues with the management team as needed.
Academic & professional qualifications
Business Degree + ANZIF or CII
Sales Diploma, Customer Service or equivalent experience
Training in Marketing
Minimum years of experience required for the job
5 years experience

A strategic and innovative thinker
A high level of competence in analysing problems and making decisions, the job holder is often required to make business decisions immediately, while working out in the field, and without the benefit of referring to superiors.
