JOB TITLE: Internal Auditor-Technical
Reports to: Internal Auditor Supervisor
Responsible for: none
Department: Internal Audit

JOB PURPOSE:
To carry out independent reviews/appraisals of Umeme's internal control systems to provide assurance as to their appropriateness and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute the day-to-day activities of technical network audits according to the Audit Plan.
2. Identify and communicate technical and auditing matters to Senior Auditors.
3. Develop and coordinate the implementation of the Annual Technical Audit Plans.
4. Identify performance improvement opportunities with the business.
5. Ensure the Information flow from the Field to the Audit Team is efficient by interacting with the field staff,
6. Execute Technical Audits on the Umeme Network Foot Print and Rural Electrification schemes.
7. Review the design, implementation and operating effectiveness of controls to ensure the following:
• Effective planning and feasibility studies are done for all new schemes/projects added to the Network.
• Work has been done and carried out in accordance with agreed plans and specifications.
• Adequacy of procedures for measuring and monitoring of the quality of power supply and reliability.
• Maintenance programme for the Network, line clearance, transformers and sub stations is available and executed accordingly.
• That the existing systems (e.g SCADA) in place are working as intended.
• The loss reduction programme is properly implemented and adhered to.
• The Incident Management System (IMS) is operating as expected and is timely updated.
• All system improvements are properly executed in line with established guidelines.
• All constructed schemes are appropriately captured in the GIS system.
8. Prepare proper working papers and draft Audit Reports for review by the Internal Audit Supervisor and Head of Internal Audit.
9. Carry out ad hoc Audits specifically on the technical aspects of the control systems as may be required from time to time.
10. Communicate, coordinate and follow-up on Audit status with Senior Auditor, Head of Internal Audit and Departmental Heads.

Required Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Must be knowledgeable about survey and engineering drawings
Experience:
1-3 years of post qualification in a commercial environment.
