Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans for the post of Clinical Officer/Medical
Assistant with the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS, based at the Uganda Virus Research
Institute Entebbe. We are seeking for a keen and experienced CO/MA with an interest in working in a
multi-centre of HIV related studies. The post is suitable for any individual(s) who are enthusiastic to work.
The post will be based in Kampala, and the successful candidate will join a team of clinical and research
staff at the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
The Clinical Officer/Medical Assistant will be involved in the enrolment and follow-up of study participants and ill provide general health care to patients. He/she will also be involved in keeping clinical records and writing activity reports.
Preferred Skills: Qualifications and Experience:The successful applicant must have a Diploma of Clinical Offi cer from a
recognized institution. He/she will have proven experience in the clinical management of STI including speculum examination and experience in conducting general health care consultations. He/she has good interviewing and interpersonal skills and is accurate in handling patient records. He/she is fl uent in English and Luganda. Previous experience in research, in genital sample taking for laboratory diagnosis of STI and in offering HIV care will be added advantage.
Terms: The position will be remunerated according to the Uganda MRC/UVRI Unit system. The
appointment will be for two years initially and is renewable. The post holder will be based in Kampala.
All appointments will be for an initial period of 2 years, and renewable. The position will be remunerated
according to the Ugandan MRC/UVRI Unit system. Salaries are attractive and will depend on training and
prior experience.
