Job Title: Cooperatives Coordinator.
Reports to: Team Leader.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure a sound legal framework by offering in house legal advisory services and support to management and the bank on legal risks generally i.e. contractual, credit, litigation, regulatory and statutory risks etc.

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify existing common interest and existing cooperatives across the Millenium Village site.
- Build the different capacities of the common interest groups and cooperatives in the site to perform and provide quality services.
- Provide timely technical advice to business development, extension staff and farmer based groups in the MVP site. .
- Work closely with government organs responsible for cooperatives auditing, registering, capacity building and promotions.
- Provide technical back stopping to the cooperatives and common interest groups within the site.
- Assessing new and existing risks and provide recommendations to mitigate such risks.
- Develop, manage and maintain effective partnerships with national, district and other local government authorities responsible for cooperatives support.

Required qualifications, experience and skills:
- A Masters Degree in Agriculture, Business, Rural Development, Economics or related area of expertise or Bachelors degree with relevant experience.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience working in International development. Knowledge of Agro-finance or community development or working in or with cooperatives a plus;
- Demonstrate ability to compile and report results of research or management activities.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and the main local language.
- Highly motivated with a professional background in cooperative development, agriculture and/or business.
- Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Proven problem solving and organizational skills, flexibility and calm under pressure.
