Business Fellowships
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS HAS DECIDED TO PHASE OUT THE BUSINESS FELLOWSHIPS SCHEME IN 2011. NO FURTHER APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MARCH 31, 2011.
Business fellowships cover assistance to Danish firms. Fellowships may be granted to Danish companies who have won a contract in a developing country financed by a multinational donor or one of the development banks, but not financed by Danida or other bilateral donors. The developing country must be included in DAC List 1 with an yearly GNI per capita not exceeding 2,470 $. These fellowships are thus offered to local partners/clients of Danish firms.
A business fellowship course is for a maximum of ten fellows, a study period of between three weeks and six months, and of the value of maximum 10 percent of the total contract, not exceeding a total value of DKK 1 million.
After the contract has been signed by both parties, the Danish firm may apply for a business fellowship course to be conducted in Denmark. The application is forwarded to DFC and must include information on which developing country, the financing agency, the contract work and a brief description of the envisaged fellowship course (topic, number of fellowships and duration). In addition copies of the relevant pages in the contract (as a minimum covering the contract amount and the signatures) must be included. Subsequently, DFC will decide whether or not to submit the request to Ministry of Foreign Affairs for final approval.
DFC has guidelines for the arrangement of business fellowship courses, course budgets and accounts, which specify the contractual conditions between DFC and the place of study. Download the guidelines (in Danish and applicable for both business fellowships and fellowships covered by the former advance pledge scheme).
