Who Can Apply?
Eligibility
Fellowships will primarily be granted to nationals from Danida programme countries (Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia) who are affiliated with Danida funded programmes/projects, including NGO and government employees. People employed in an advisory capacity, e.g. employees of firms acting as advisers/implementing bodies for Danida or the programme country are not eligible for fellowship. Embassy employees are not eligible for fellowship, neither through programme/project funds nor through central fellowship funds.
Age Limit
As regards short-term training (under 6 months), age limits may be fixed locally taking into consideration local retirement age. In general, fellowships are granted to candidates between 25 and 45 years of age. Candidates’ position in the programme/project should be more essential than their age. Candidates’ prior education, skills and language proficiency should also be part of the overall consideration.
As regards long-term training (Master- and PhD-studies), the age limit should be more restrictive. As a rule, candidates should not be more than 40 years of age when commencing their studies.
Gender
Qualified women are encouraged to apply.
Language Skills
Study programmes are usually arranged in English, and candidates must have a good command of the English language - in reading, speaking and in writing. Proficiency tests are required for candidates from countries where English is not the administrative language.
Computer Skills
Furthermore, candidates must upon arrival in Denmark be computer literate, i.e. have basic knowledge of computers and basic word processing skills. Candidates need not to possess these skills upon applying, but are expected to acquire them before arriving in Denmark.
