ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

JOB TITLE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

DEPARTMENT: TECHNICAL
PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE: To support the execution of all electrical works on projects.
REPORTS TO: Technical Manager
LOCATION: Head Office
DIRECTLY MANAGES:
Electrical Subcontractors
KEY OUTPUTS / DELIVERABLES:
Delivery of electrical work against set safety, quality, time and profitability parameters;
Project Progress reports;
Value for money

INTERNAL INTERFACES: Technical Manager, Site Agents, Quantity Surveyor, Foremen-Electrical, Purchasing Officer, Site HSSE Officer.

EXTERNAL INTERFACES: Sub-contractors, Consultants, Clients, Umeme.
KEY TASKS:
Maintain, and improve electrical equipment for use at sites.
Supervise implementation of electrical works in conformity with construction, installation standards and specifications.
Supervise Electrical subcontractors regularly.
Prepare Electrical work plans for approval by client before execution.
Support QS on pricing Electrical tenders and measurement of electrical works.
Plan, Schedule and execute the project on time and within budget.
Prepare specifications and raise material requisitions for purchase of electrical materials and equipment for the various projects.
Exercise cost control function by selecting the most appropriate options that deliver maximum return to the company.
Manage HSSE issues in the process of carrying out the electrical works;
Liaise with consultants, Umeme and clients’ representatives to ensure smooth delivery of electrical works.
Prepare progress reports on the electrical works

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Integrity, honesty , teamwork and delivery on time;
2. Good customer care, communication, people, conflict prevention and management skills;
3. Interpretation of design drawings /specifications;
4. Costing of BOQs;
5. Project Management: Planning, organizing, coordinating, delegating and decision making ability;
6. Negotiating ability;
7. Ability to select appropriate technology option for a given application;
8. Good analytical skills;
9. Knowledge of HSSE and Quality Management;
10. Computer literate.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
A good degree in Electrical Engineering.
Registered member of UIPE

EXPERIENCE:
3 years of experience in a heavy industry setup.
Demonstrable hands on Experience on Electrical Installation works.
