Job Title: MEDICAL OFFICER (6 POSITIONS)
Reports to: Project Manager CSI/RRH Project General Summary: The Medical Officer will provide technical assistance, on site support, formal and informal training and capacity building to the Regional Referral Hospitals health Care Workers, and contribute to revision of service delivery models as appropriate, He/She will conduct HTV/ AIDS problem based management training for RRII personnel and assess HCWs competence in administering ARVS while addressing gaps where they are identified.

The post holder will further be responsible for providing clinical care to patients attending the clinics, assessing and diagnosing clinical patients' problems, reviewing patients' files and laboratory results to ensure continuity of care of the patients and participate in technical/training programs and contribute to the sustainability plans for Regional Referral Hospitals' medical service systems.

Responsibilities
The Medical Officer will perform the following roles:
• Provide advanced clinical management support while addressing quality control issues at site level
• Manage HIV/AIDS complex canes
• Provide clinical care to patients attending the health centre
• Required to rotate in different Regional Referral Hospitals to offer technical guidance and capacity building to the health care workers
• Assess and diagnose clinical patients' problems
• Order laboratory tests and prescribe medications as appropriate
• Refer patients for additional assessment as appropriate
• Review patients' files and laboratory results to ensure continuity of care of patients Participate as a full member of the health care team
• Participate in the assessment of training needs of RRH staff and make recommendations accordingly
• Participate in the assessment of RRH facilities to ensure quality care is provided to the patients
• Participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) and mentoring for all trained staff at the RRH
• Mentor the RRH clinicians in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of patients
• Participate, as appropriate and when requested, in project teaching/training activities.
• Provide feedback on the project for the purposes of reviewing progress and future planning


Job requirement

Educational Requirements:
• MBChB Degree
• Completion of Internship
• Training in HIV/AIDS preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of HIV/AIDS related issues
• Ability to communicate well with patients and
• their care-givers
• Excellent organizational skills and flexibility, including the ability to manage and move between multiple sites
