Job Title: Assistant Accountant


Location: Multilple Locations

Reports to : Agency/Branch Manager

Duty Station : Agency/Branch

Immediate Subordinates : Administrative Assistants, Tellers, Customer Care Officers



Role definition

The Branch Accountant has the responsibility to maintain the accuracy of FINCA Uganda's loan portfolio information, update this information timely and communicate it to management in predetermined reports as well as managing loan portfolio related suspense accounts. This is accomplished through knowledge and use of the Accounting, Bank and Portfolio module and complying with accounting policies and standard operating procedures.



Key result areas

1. Pre-Process and coordinate the submission of loan packages in line with FINCA financial policies
2. Batch Process loan repayments and refund in line with FINCA policies
3. Batch Processing loan disbursements/packages and refunds in line with FINCA finance policies
4. Implement strategies for managing the transitory account in line with FINCA financial policies
5. Implement strategies for managing suspense and over drawn account in line with FINCA financial policies.
6. Implement strategies for managing the unapplied deposits account in line with FINCA policies
7. Implement strategies for maintaining clients’ accounts in line with FINCA policies
8. Monitor the communication of sales and portfolio quality performance of the operations team in line with FINCA policies and procedures
9. Implement strategies for handling and management of portfolio documentation in line with FINCA policies and procedures
10. Prepare bank reconciliations and Investigation of un-credited transactions in line with FINCA policies and procedure
11. Prepare and monitor branch budgets in line with budgeting guidelines and procedures



Qualification and experience

* University degree in Accounting or related field
* Any ACCA level of accomplishment is an added advantage
* At least 2 years working experience in the Accounting field

* Proficiency in use of computer
* Ability to work in a team
* Analytical skills
