Job Title: Coordinator – Batwa Empowerment & Social Protection
Salary Scale: Grade D Quartile 1
Reports to: Technical Manager – Protected Areas
Location: Kabale
Tasks & Responsibilities
* Facilitating advocacy and capacity building of partners, communities and collaborators focusing on influencing positive responses to needs and rights of the Batwa.
* Coordinating and overseeing planning and implementation of Batwa Empowerment activities.
* Supporting implementation of livelihood interventions for Batwa.
* Engaging on broader CARE Uganda programme and administration initiatives
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
* A good three year Bachelors’ Degree, but a Masters Degree is an added advantage.
* At least 3 years experience in a similar work.
* Experience in capacity building and advocacy.
* Proven experience working on social protection issues affecting poor and marginalised groups of people.
* Knowledge of government structures and policies especially in the land, forestry and wildlife sectors and Decentralisation.
* Understanding of human rights, and the policy, institutional and legal framework as regards the protection of minority groups
* Familiar with conflict sensitive and gender equity and diversity approaches.
* Experience in working with rural communities, local civil society organisations, and local government.
* Excellent facilitation, mobilisation, communication, documentation and team work skills.
* Ability in promoting pro-poor demand driven business development and rural financial services.
* Demonstration of ability to work under minimum supervision.
