Job Title: Coordinator – Community Based Natural Resources Management (CBNRM)

Salary Scale: Grade D Quartile 1

Reports to: Technical Manager – CBNRM

Location: Fort Portal

Tasks & Responsibilities

* Working closely with communities, Civil Society partners and collaborating agencies to plan project activities on a monthly and quarterly basis
* Coordinating field activities between and with different partners and target communities
* Initiating and promoting coordination and collaboration between partners, target communities and local government authorities
* Leading component level monitoring, evaluation, documentation and data/information management
* Support partners to develop and implement their M&E plans and systems.
* Support partnership development and capacity building through dialogue, coaching and learning by doing
* Working with the Advisor for gender, conflict and HIV/AIDS, to facilitate the integration of these cross-cutting issues into all CBNRM activities/plans/agreements.
* Engage in programme-level planning, review and learning meetings to ensure inter-project co-ordination and synergies
* Initiate concepts and strategies for implementing selected site specific activities related to CBNRM.
* Work with the Civil Society and Advocacy Advisor to facilitate and strengthen natural resource/environment thematic groups at community level and District level.
* Take lead in initiating partnership reviews and monitoring emergence of partnership issues.
* Carry out regular monitoring of field activities and document progress on a monthly basis, emphasising areas that need the urgent additional attention of the Technical Manager and Advisors.
* Provide quality assurance to activities and reports of partners under guidance of the Technical Manager.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

* A 3-year good bachelors’ degree in natural resources/environment related field, but a Master degree is an added advantage.
* Minimum of 5 years field experience in conservation and development work, particularly in community conservation/community based natural resource management in a large programme/NGO setting.
* Previous experience in project planning a and managing partnerships
* Experience and knowledge of advocacy and organisational capacity building processes, tools and methodologies
* Knowledge of government structures, policies and laws within the land, forestry, water and wetlands sectors.
* Experience in facilitating participatory natural resource management initiatives and familiarity with stakeholder and conflict analysis tools.
* Experience working in rural communities, local civil society organisations and local government;
* Proven skills in facilitation, communication, documentation, monitoring and evaluation
* Good understanding of the interconnectedness between natural resources, livelihoods, gender, HIV/AIDS, conflict, climate change and land rights.
* Good computer practical skills.
