Description:
The Bantwana Initiative of World Education, Inc. seeks candidates for a Grants Manager in Uganda pending release of a USAID/RFA. The Grants Manager will manage all partner grants of a proposed five-year project to improve services for vulnerable children by assisting community based organizations to provide comprehensive and integrated household-centered care for OVC in Uganda. S/he will also coordinate support supervision to partners to ensure appropriate and timely spending, as well as build partner capacity in small grants management.
The Project will focus on areas including:
1) Improve the socio-economic status of OVC households with a comprehensive and family focused package for their survival, growth, development and participation in the community.
2) Promote and provide child protection and legal services to OVC and their households; and
3) Strengthen delivery of integrated, quality social services to the OVC and their households through community based response systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review of partners financial reports and co-ordination with programs to ensure that technical and financial reports correlate;
Visiting and supporting partners to ensure appropriate spending;
Assist Chief of Party in selection process of new Grantees;
Help review and evaluate grant proposals from partners;
Any other grants related duties as assigned by Head of Programs;
Facilitation of contracts between WEI/Uganda office and sub grantees;
Keep track of program level spending;
Capacity building of NGOs to manage small grants;
Facilitation of funds transfer between World Education Inc. Boston/Uganda and sub grantees;
Manage a database for grant monitoring;
Keep sub grantees informed on the status of their funds;
Technical & Administration support for sub grantees;
Review grantee expenditures and provide feedback on expenses incurred as necessary;
Ensuring that sub grantee financial reports have been sent to WEI/Boston in a timely manner;
Ensure that all expenses and vouchers are correctly entered and audit ready at all time.
QUALIFICATIONS
First degree or equivalent in Accounting or related experience;
Experienced in capacity building, grants and financial management;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Knowledge of local languages desired;
Strong accounting background;
Knowledge of USG rules and regulations a plus
Salary commensurate with experience.
