World Vision Uganda is seeking to hire competent persons to fill the following position;


Position: IT Officer
Reports to: IT Manager
Duty Station: National office
Location: Kampala
Purpose of the position:
This position is an integral part of the World Vision Uganda IT Team. The incumbent will be the National Office IT presence on the ground within the WV Zonal offices. This role is to be both the face of National Office IT and means of delivering operational capability to WVU IT clients.

Key Responsibilities:
• In collaboration with the National Office team implements and maintains Internet connectivity, remote access, VPNs, and protocols at all sites with the Zonal office;
• Installs, configures, and maintains security for LAN/ WAN, internet, wireless, and remote access services for all users within the zone;
• Follows up incidences/requests on WVU Customer Service/HeIp desk in a manner consistent with IT Service Level Guidelines;
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots system problems and coordinates with the National Office IT Department for appropriate escalation issue for resolution;
• Responsible tor receiving, setting up, testing and installing new computer systems, hardware and software, and assisting users in migrating their data and customized configurations to new systems;
• In coordination with the National Office IT team, facilitates delivery of IT skills training on WV approved productivity tools;
• Provides second and third levels support for all technical problem solving and troubleshooting in connectivity related within the region;
• Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a Lotus Notes application connection and replication schedules and ensures proper configuration for all Lotus Notes to provide 24 x 7 connectivity and replication capability


Job requirement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and any numerical courses with a bias in Computer science
• Professional certification is an added advantage. Three years relevant experience in IT Support ITIL Service Management framework knowledge and experience is an added advantage. MS Windows 2003 server platform experience Empirical knowledge of Lotus Notes/Domino environment is a plus
• Good knowledge of both client and server operating systems; Cisco routers and firewalls, MS SQL
• Strong Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP. WINS. DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN
