Job Title: Commodity Operations Manager
Since 1963 and in 145 countries, ACDI/VOCA has empowered people in developing and transitional nations to succeed in the global economy. Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development and food security in order to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society. ACDI/VOCA has been awarded the USAID-funded PL 480 Title II Development Food Aid Program called “Resiliency through Wealth, Agriculture, and Nutrition in Karamoja (RWANU)”, to be implemented from August, 2012 through July, 2017 in Karamoja, Uganda. RWANU will focus on two strategic objectives to reduce food insecurity among vulnerable rural populations in selected sub-counties of Amudat, Moroto, Napak and Nakapiripirit: (1) improved availability and access to food; and (2) reduced malnutrition in pregnant and lactating mothers and children under five. The Program will promote diversified livelihoods strategies including linkages to market opportunities to ensure long-term food security and resilience to shocks. We are currently seeking senior-level professionals in the following fields:
Commodity Operations Manager: Oversee the ACDI/VOCA Title II Program’s commodity shipping, import, stocking, inventory management, delivery/distribution, and sales. Ensure proper systems of control and coordination with field and HQ accounting staff. Align monetization activities with ACDI/VOCA cash needs, and Government of Uganda and USAID regulations.
Requirement:
At least 5 years food commodities logistics management experience, including warehouse management, preferably with USAID Title II programs. Based in Kampala with frequent travel to project sites.
